The theme update is here!
by Steve Testone on July 13th, 2009

The theme update you've all been waiting for is finally here and it's a big one. Some of you might have noticed that the update actually happened this weekend and we've been working hard to ensure that everything is running smoothly because a lot has changed.

The My Themes application has been completely reworked and it's now better then ever. Here are just a few highlights of this update:

  • save multiple themes
  • three new theme templates to choose from
  • change you themes fonts
  • add custom backgrounds to themes
  • customize buttons
  • add unlimited number of text boxes
  • modify text box fonts
  • add effects to text boxes
  • improved interface
  • tons of new graphics and fills
  • change theme font size

Not only has the My Themes application been updated, but the themes themselves have been dramatically changed. The original themes all had a flash header but now when you save your theme, it will be completely in html. This is great for several reasons, like it now loads almost 10x faster and your site will be more compatiable with mobile browsers.

A new area has also been added but hasn't gone live yet, and that's the Theme Exchange area. I'm very excited about this new feature as it will allow all the SnapPages users to share themes they've created with each other. I'll have more information on this later.

In addition to the theme udpate we've also launched a new update to our billing system that is also a pretty dramatic improvement. For instance you can now pay monthly and we even except paypal as a payment form now. I'll post more on this later as well.

Many of these changes where things that a lot of you have been asking for for a long time so I'm very happey to have been able to implement so many of them. Like with any update of this magnitude, there are bound to be a few glitches here and there so please let me know if something isn't working properly either in the forums or by submitting a help ticket.

I'll be posting more details about this update in the coming days because there is just so much that I can't fit it in one post. So please go try it out and let me know what you think! I'm excited to see what you guys will use it to create.

Hi Steve does this mean we can now display the header of the site as a non Flash element? Client may jump off Snappages if we can't because he can't see site on his iPhone! Thanks

Yes, once you save your new theme and it exports, both the header and the buttons should now be viewable on the iphone.

Do you have any feature where we can do it in english and spanish by a click of a button.

This is currently not a feature that we offer, however many have requested it so we will look into implementing something like this possibly in the future.

So, for the Pro account is it going to be $50.00, plus $8.00 a month? Or the $50.00 price is gone?

Also, You should office more font choices and make your templated be able to customize them more. They fill too restrictive. Thanks!

$50 dollars per year is the current price for the pro account. We are adding the option to pay monthly instead of yearly for $8 per month. It's one or the other but not both. Also the $50 per year will cost $80 for users how sign up after August 1st.

I signed up for a free trial of the business web site but never got to use it. I had dial up internet service that was so slow I was unable to see/use everything. I have an internet satelite now and was wondering if I could try it again.

Have an option for your graphics to be animated. Those lovely circles should be animated...not just glow, frost, beveled, etc.
