What do you want to see in 2.0?
by Steve Testone on June 5th, 2012

We are hard at work on the new Web Pages 2.0 app and I'm really excited about what it's going to mean for SnapPages. I'm even hoping to get an early beta out later this month so be on the lookout for that. There will be a lot of new posibilities as we move to HTML5 so our imagination is really starting to run wild. But what I really want to know is what do you want to see in SnapPages 2.0?

As some of you may have noticed we recently launched a new community forums and help center. I'll write another post about the help center later, but be sure to head on over to our new community forums because there's now a great way for all the users to tell us which new features they'd like to see the most. You can even vote on features others have suggested so they get moved to the top.

If you've been a SnapPages user long enough then you'll know that we really do take these things into account when we add new features so be sure to take advantage of it and feel free to dream big!

I know there is an option to password protect individual pages but a personalized login system you can apply across the whole site would be nice.
John L. - June 9th, 2012 at 11:07 AM
Yeah! I need to be able to edit the HTML on a blog! It just won't let me...
Rusty Rice - September 12th, 2013 at 10:08 PM
please tell me a login system is in the works in the near future?
Wendy - September 4th, 2014 at 7:55 AM
How can I password protect each page, like the photo page?
Darrel D. - June 6th, 2012 at 3:02 PM
With the new community forums up and running are there any plans of fazing out the old forums?
Steve Testone - June 6th, 2012 at 5:01 PM
Yes, that is the plan. We've already removed most the links to the old forum and replaced them with this.

Here's a few that would help us out a lot (number one would be custom layouts but that's coming):

* The ability to change the header size on any theme (without using CSS or losing link boxes)

* Changeable billboard sizes

* Multiple clickable items in a billboard

* The ability to change fonts anywhere in the site (rather than sticking with one throughout)

* Customizable (or expanded) contact forms with more fields and different looks

Obviously we love SnapPages because we started a business around designing sites using SP exclusively - but these things would make our work really stand out.

Steve - thanks for your hard work. I know just a fraction of what you've put into this and I am grateful!

Dan - June 9th, 2012 at 9:55 PM
Well I can name a few!

1.There shold be a CAPTCHA for Contact form so the users won't abouse it!

2.When you create your own theme there should be a check box for backgrounds if you want the background to scroll with the pages or be fixed!

3.Drop down navigation would be great!

4.I think there is a bug in Blog. When i try to put post in the category it doesn't show any, but there are 3 categories that i have created!

5.A login system whould be great! Something like wordpress, drupal or joomla!

6.Forums!

7.Better way to custimze themes! Am not saying it sucks but it could be better! Currently we are not allowed to modify the navigation!

8.More themes. I love my theme but it would be great if user would have a bigger selection of themes!

9.Be able to create custom forms.
Big Blue Designs - June 11th, 2012 at 8:24 PM
It would be stellar to have something similar to "link boxes" on the billboards. Along with different billboard sizes, that would ratchet up the quality and creativity to a whole 'nuther level!!

Jeff - June 12th, 2012 at 8:16 AM
1) Locking of the top level category tab, making it un-clickable.

2) Adding a more robust "contact" page. Mostly adding info about the persons location, country, etc...

3) For the blog, having the ability to change the the "More" button to "Leave a Comment" at the bottom of a new article.

I agree with Dan that there might be a bug in the blog. Choosing a category isn't consistent; sometimes the categories are there, sometimes they're not. I posted 3 posts into one category, and on the blog page, it shows 2 of the same category; one with (2) posts and the other with (1); but if you click on either of them, all 3 show up. Also, sometimes when I go in to edit a post that had a photo, the photo suddenly isn't there and then when I save and close, there's random jumbled up words that scroll around where the photo should be. I have been too many times very disappointed with the inconsistency that I'm currently backing up and considering moving to another blog site.

We're looking into this and trying to get it resolved ASAP.

Hi,

Love the website but I would love a way to customize the website in order to have a full size image in the background with transparency text box. In the website I put the kind of expected results.

Self contained video would be really handy. Inserting a YouTube video is not always a good option. Keep up the good work.
Jonathan - June 25th, 2012 at 7:26 AM
Having the ability to click a link in a text and have a pop-up box would be a very handy feature...
Jenn - June 26th, 2012 at 3:15 AM
Blog summaries on the home page.

Option to hide time of blog posts on the home page.

Option to list blog entires by month on home page (instead of specific dates)

Option for list view for calendar (for organizations with only a few events/yr).

Mobile websites.

Thanks for listening.

Mobile website! Definitely mobile website. Very good point!

I may have missed something (haven't read all the responses), but one small feature that might be added is the ability to (1) size or resize the billboard to become even larger, or even any size. (2) another idea is could you make horizontal (or vertical) dividing lines that don't have alot of space around them...very little space! Just a couple thoughts! Thanks for making it possible for an old graphic designer to have fun!! Our site is to be published tomorrow...first day of July.
Justin - July 3rd, 2012 at 3:37 PM
I would love to see the ability for Snappages calendar app to be able to subscribe to a Google Calendar. Snappages graphical layout is so much nicer than Google's.

(Unless of course you can already do this and I just haven't figured out how.)
kielan - July 7th, 2012 at 2:12 AM
Hi,

It would be really amazing if you could create a mobile version of the site and also support to edit pages on iPad.

Thanks

Dropbox integration!!!
Jeff D. - July 10th, 2012 at 5:47 PM
I'm trying to build a site for my fledgling video production company. I'd like to have a page for music videos, one for short films, etc. On each page, I'd like to have just one video playing at a time with a menu to select which video to play. In the case of a web series, one should be able to choose episodes without having to navigate to a bunch of different pages.
Richard Scully - July 14th, 2012 at 1:45 PM
I would like to be able to have the various "page column layouts" offered in the reverse too. Sometimes we would like a large image at the bottom with the columns at the top and vice versus.
Greg - August 1st, 2012 at 9:09 PM
I would like to see customized contact us boxes, improved picture slide shows
Jon - August 27th, 2012 at 1:34 AM
I would love the ability to have a thumbnail of the one of the pictures included in a blog to appear in the list of blog entries on my homepage.
Jon - August 27th, 2012 at 1:57 AM
More integration with social media outlets like facebook, twitter, instagram, tumblr, getglue & pinterest would be great.
Jay - July 12th, 2013 at 8:46 PM
The availability to upload audio files
Mobile site
Being able to project pictures from your instagram directly
Dropbox
Guest book so people can leave their comments with acceptance of comments
Advertising options (in house)
Being able to upload videos (not youtube)
Being able to freeze the top bar
Able to change the icon that apears on your tab (snappages simbol)
***Logo creator***
thats all i can think of now.
