Themes 2.0 Teaser
by Steve Testone on January 7th, 2013

For us 2012 was a year spent developing the next version of SnapPages and 2013 is the year we unleash it on the world. In fact calling it the "next version" almost doesn't even do it justice as it's pretty much a complete relaunch. All of our most important apps are being recreated from the ground up. We've already released a lot of our new stuff in at least some sort of beta form, but we've saved the most dramatically updated and improved app for last. The Themes app.

More of what you want.

There are two requests that we have heard over and over again when it comes to the themes for your website. More flexibility and more themes. We've heard you loud and clear and it's coming your way (plus a lot of stuff that you didn't ask for but is equally as awesome). By moving everything over to HTML5 it's allowed to add levels of flexibility that were just never possible with our flash based version. Just how flexible are we talking here? Well take a look at this screenshot to get a small taste of what this will practically look like:
Theme Editor
And that's just the tip of the iceberg. The main goal is to add as much flexibility as possible while still maintaining the ease-of-use that makes SnapPages what it is. Be on the look out for more news on this in the coming weeks about when beta testing will open up for the new app.

Steve, firstly thanks for the great site builder. I am a lawyer moonlighting as a website designer for the NGO I work with, Global Clinic. As you can imagine, website design is not one of my strengths so thank heavens I found your very user-friendly interface.

I'm really looking forward to more themes and options for the Themes app. In particular, it would be great to be able to insert a search box and buttons into the header itself - e.g. a "DONATE NOW" button and a Google search box. This will ensure the box and buttons appear on every page and that I'm not required to find an appropriate place on each page to insert them.

As for the search box, is there any way I can insert a search box provided by a different provider? Some provide data analytics, and the Google one is a little clunky.

I'm also having a rather pesky problem with my header. I modified the theme so that Global Clinic's logo is on the left edge of where the font begins, and the mailing list/contact us/donate now links are on the right edge of where the font ends. Now this arrangement displays itself perfectly on my Macbook and iPhone, but on my work PC browsers (an old version of IE and a new version of Firefox), the logo is off centre towards the right and the mailing list/contact us/donate now links are nowhere to be seen. Help!!! Thank you :)

Hi, Steve. I'm not a native english speaker. Is this website available for the foreigners? there are something wrong with my website if I don't put alphabetic writing. The link can't work.

Can you give me some more details about this? Where exactly is this issue occurring?
cranstar1 - February 1st, 2013 at 4:57 AM
Here is my website "" . You can check it. the problem is the sideblock of "Categories". One is "Announcements", the other is "%u6700%u8FD1%u66F4%u65B0"[this is chinese character]. the link of "%u6700%u8FD1%u66F4%u65B0" can't work. if I change it into english, it can work again. how can I make it work when I put chinese character. or this website is only available for english?

this issue is also occurring in the lastest two of my blog posts. You can check it. one is "France", the other is titled in chinese character. when you click the chinese character, the post can't display. another problem is the link in the post of "France". it seems the link only links to the webpages of snappages. it can't to link to other websites that aren't associated with

Thank you adavance!

While I'm looking forward to the full blown version of 2.0... I'm getting a bit frustrated waiting for the kinks that are showing up in the Beta to get fixed and the fact that you can't go back to the old version for a page you've edited, save and published in the Beta 2.0. I've got pages that will not show three new buttons I've added to a page edited under the beta 2.0... even after saving and Updating Publishing several times.

Steve you are the greatest! Every Time I wish for something to develop with this site it happens! I love it! I used the trial version of the developer format on one of my already made sites and when the code transfered over it was just a mess I didn't even want to deal with. This will definitely make my coding life a lot easier! Thank you again and definitely mark me down for a beta test subject anytime :)
