New Billboard Features
by Steve Testone on January 24th, 2014

You will be seeing a lot of improvements this year and many are already rolling out. Some of these improvements are focused on improving usability, while some of them are just focused on improving awesomeness. This update helps a little with both.
Now if you are editing your billboard slides, you'll notice that there are a few more options. One of them is the new "tint" feature which allows you to tint your slides to different colors of your choosing. Also, there are two new text styles titled "Border" and "Long Shadow". You can easily combine these new features to produce something similar to the image above with just a few clicks!

Is there a way to change the shape of a billboard? I need a square billboard on the side of the page, not a billboard covering the whole page.

You can change the height of the billboard but not the width. It's meant to go across the page and other blocks can't do that. However, the regular Slideshow block allows you to customize the width and height and works very similar to the billboard. The slideshow doesn't allow you to add text overlays like the billboard does, but if you just put the text in the actually images that would probably work for what you are describing.

Amy, Not sure if this is possible, but can you make the billboard the size required by snappages, then create your image square in the center, then make the white space transparent and export it as a transparent image, say in photoshop? making sure it selects the entire canvas and not just the image, then you will end up with a square image on a transparent rectangular background. Hopefully?! I didn't try it, just thought it sounded possible in my head!

Christina,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I needed something like a slideshow. Steve's suggestion to put the slideshow block in worked great! Thanks again!

Hi Steve,

I have a client that has a link to their site from one of their partners, and I believe they are using your billboard script. http://assets.snappages.com/websites/js/snappages.min.2.0.41.js

From some versions of Internet Explorer, it seems that the links do not work. Have you seen this before? The site is www.margatechamber.com.

I haven't had reports of this. Can you create a support ticket so we can get some more details from you?

When creating a slideshow for the banners or just photos is there a way to add links to the photos? If not, is this something that we may see in the near future? I would love for visitors to be able to click on the photos shown and go right to the specific page or right to the info.

This is currently possible with the billboards, but not just the regular slideshow block. I'll add it to our list of requested features to see if it's something we can look at adding in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

I renewed my account today (last year was charged $80; this year, $300. Nothing was said about
the hike in pricing. I was shocked. I could not find any other place to leave this question. My website needs some definite changes. But, I had no idea that the prices had changed from last year to now!
Where did I not see this before I actually paid with my new credit card?

I have a question about billboards in general. Can I remove them completely?
Steve Testone - May 21st, 2014 at 11:30 AM
Yes, there is an option in the page editor under "settings" to turn the billboard off or on.
