A Better Editing Experience
by Steve Testone on March 7th, 2014

As a part of our ongoing, obsessive crusade to make SnapPages better, we've launched an update to the Editor that should make it a little easier to use. From a feature standpoint, we haven't made any earth shattering changes. However, as a result of extensive user testing, we've made some changes that we think will make editing your site much easier.

Moving Menus

The biggest change you will probably notice is that when you select a web block to edit it, the options menu no longer appears along the bottom. Instead, the menu appears on top of the block you are editing. This should make the options easier to find, as well as make them more accessible.

We've also moved the menu bar that went across the bottom of the page to the top so that it stays out of your way while you are editing your site's content.

Saving Changes

We have added two new features when it comes to saving pages. If you edit a block, you will now see an alert icon next to the save icon that lets you know that you have unsaved changes. If you try to exit the editor while you have unsaved changes, a warning will be displayed.

To quickly save changes or publish them to your website, we've also added a few shortcut commands. Hitting ctrl+s will save a page, ctrl+shift+s will make a copy of the page, and ctrl+alt+s will publish a page. If you are on a Mac, you can use the "command" key instead of the "ctrl" key.

Make a copy of the page? We can now copy elements onto new pages? How do we paste?

Sorry for the confusion. This is not referring to copying elements from one page to another, it's performing a "save as" so you can save a copy of the entire page. This was always possible, there is just not a shortcut for it.

Well I very much appreciate moving the options menu from the bottom to the top, it was a real pain, and yes it was always in the way. But hey, thanks for making the improvements! I love snappages and I love the customer service & quality improvement process.

Thanks so much for being so very user-oriented. In my opinion, SnapPages is a "best kept secret" among business owners....and something that ought to be shouted from the rooftops. Bravo! SnapPages. I LOVE what you are doing.
