Adding Audio Files to your Website
by Ryan Courtney on May 26th, 2016

While we currently allow users to directly upload files using our 'Files' app, it is geared more towards sharing basic files (PDF, Word Documents, etc.) and is not optimized for sharing audio files with visitors to your site. Fortunately, there is an easy way to add songs, podcasts, sermons, playlists and more to your site using SoundCloud.
While there are many 3rd party services available that will allow you to upload and host your audio files, we’ve chosen to use SoundCloud in this example. Please follow the steps below to add your audio files to your website using SoundCloud:
  1. First, you will need to create a SoundCloud account. To do this, simply visit http://soundcloud.com and click ‘Create Account’. You will need to verify your email address to complete the account setup.
      2. Once you’ve verified your account, go back to SoundCloud and click ‘Upload’ at the top of
the page. Once you’ve selected the file and begin the upload, you will be asked to enter
some additional information. While most of the information is optional, please ensure you
keep the file set to 'Public' or else you will not be able to display it on your website. When
the file's upload has completed and you’re done filling out the additional information,
select ‘Save’. On the next screen, click ‘Go to track’.
3. From your track’s page, select the ‘Share’ icon (4th icon from the left beneath the ‘Comments’ section under the track). From there, click ‘Embed’ and copy the embed code provided. Then, log into your SnapPages account, select the page you wish to add the audio file to while in the ‘Pages’ section of your account, and click ‘edit’. Once you’re in the editor, add the ‘Code Box’ web block located under the ‘Widgets’ tab. Finally, paste the copied code into the code box field, click ‘save’, and then click ‘Publish’ to apply the changes.
That’s it! The audio file you added should be displaying on the page you added it to. If for any reason it’s not working, or if you have any questions while setting this up, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
